Palitan Si Prof Carlos Sa NSA/ Panawagan Ng DDS Na Si Krizette at Ng Retired Airforce Commander/ Why?

"NSA Clarita Santos, totoo po ba di kayo naniniwala na may nirerecruit na students ng UP ang mga makakaliwa or NPAs? Please enlighten me maam," post ng isang netizen.

"The professors in the university present our students with a buffet of choices on what political philosophy to believe in, when they enroll in our classes.

As young adults, they choose which path to take, and take responsibility for their choices.

We don't choose for them," sagot ng professor.

Pinapatanong naman ito ng isang netizen at pinapasagot lamang ang professor ng yes or no.

Ang mga pahayag na ito ay mula sa isang National Security Secretary, ang  nagbibigay ng credibility question mula sa mga netizens.

Bukod pa rito, ng sabihin ng bagong NSA na hindi siya sang-ayun sa red tagging at sa pagpayag nito na pumasok ang ICC sa bansa upang imbestigahan ang diumano'y injustice sa kasagsagan ng Anti-drug campaign ng Pamahalaang Duterte.

Napansin din ng mga netizens na panay ang painterview nito sa media. Kinakatakot ng ilan na baka ang ilang mga controversial issue ay mailabas. Ilan lamang ang mga bagay na ito sa mga naging dahil sa panawagan na ilipat ng pwesto si Professor Carlos at hindi umano ito nababagay sa NSA.

Pabor naman sa nasabing panawagan ang isang retired air force commander. Ayon sa kanya, mas nababagay umano si Professor Carlos sa DNA at baka nalalagay umano sa alanganin ang seguridad ng bansa at ng pangulo.

Ayon sa isang DDS warrior na si Krizzette Laureta Chu,

"Dear President-elect Marcos,

I would like to respectfully request for you to replace Professor Clarita Carlos as NSA head with someone who believes in NPA recruitment in schools, in calling out communists, and in the sovereignty of our courts and our people.

The NSA is our CIA. And she is very ill equipped if she doesn’t believe in the years of intelligence reports gathered by your very own armed forces.

There are returning rebels your government has to protect. Government officials risked their lives so they can fight the NPA.

It is your government’s duty to protect everyone who fight against the NPA. We don’t have the luxury of time to “test” or “wait” or “see first” if Prof Clarita Carlos can do well in her job. We cannot ignore the red flags.

It won’t be good for this government if the NPA is given time to regroup and goes after the returnee rebels. It will be on you, President elect Marcos, if they are targeted, and not on Prof Clarita.

This is not to say that Prof Clarita will not be an advantage to your government. She will be, but not in any security-related position. She is brilliant and articulate and passionate, but the NSA is life and death and should be given to those who have already proven their worth in their decades-long fight against armed rebels. Now is not the time to take chances or bet on people who have never had experience with this.

We need the momentum of the previous NTF ELCAC, and will bank on your promised continuity that one of the most important projects of the PRRD administration will not be abandoned or misdirected by well-meaning but ill-matched people.

"Unwanted Attention on the NSA

There is a ruckus among those in the armed services - from the retired military men especially, about the fitness of Professor Clarita Carlos as National Security Adviser. I personally vouch for her competence to provide a wider perspective on national security.

Judging from her public pronouncements which sometimes contravene the President's own policy and those of existing defense and security policies, however, she is viewed as a security risk and therefore must not be involved in crafting security policies and strategies, the soldiers say.

She also intends to avail of the services of civilian scholars to help her craft a revised national security strategy. These scholars may not have the required security clearances and must not be allowed to handle classified info. Lives are always at stake in the defense and military establishment that is why military men talk only when needed. There is also a strict protocol for the handling of classified information and operations. It is a culture different from civilians.

There is also a perception of the professor's lukewarm reception of the NTF-ELCAC's purpose and continuity. As such, there is a suggestion for the agency to be instead transferred to the DND, instead of the NSA.

The NSA is a critical part of the national defense, military, and security apparatus. The NSA needs all the help for her to be able to accomplish her mandate. She cannot alienate herself from the DND/AFP. If she does, she will be left alone, isolated,  and will consequently be bypassed in the chain. 

My suggestion to the good professor. Stop those public pronouncements unless very necessary. Meet with the AFP. Listen carefully."
