Aminado si Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach na nananatiling hamon sa mga kagaya niyang title holder na na patunayang, she is not just a beauty queen.
"Let's all be honest, not all people think beauty queens, 'ah, ano yan, beauty and brains, celebrated.' Siyempre, there are still people out there who think beauty queens are just pretty girls, who are onstage, and who really don't have much going on or much to say."
Sinagot nito ang tanong kung ano ang mga hamon ng pagiging beauty queen title holder. Bagama't kilala ang Pilipinas sa mga beauty pageants, sinabi ni Pia na hindi sa lahat ng oras ay advantage ang pagkakaroon ng title.
"Unfortunately, there are still people who believe that.. and then when you introduce yourself to an audience or crowd or people na hindi naman pageant fans, minsan hindi naman advantage 'yung beauty queen card, e."
"'Yung ibang bansa din, hindi rin parang, 'Ah, I was a Miss Universe from 2015.' Honestly, they're not gonna get it. Then you have to prove that I am that, but I'm actually am also a lot of things. Proving na you are more. You are more than a beauty queen."
Pag-amin pa ni Pia, "That's a challenge to me. Hanggang ngayon, ah."
Ayon pa kay Pia, sigurado umano siya na maraming pang kagaya niyang beauty queens ang nakakarelate sa sinasabi niya. Lalo na kung babalik sila sa professional at corporate world.
Ginawa niyang halimbawa ang fellow beauty queen na si Bb. Pilipinas International 2019 Bea Patricia Magtanong na isang abogada.
"I don't know her personal experience, but sometimes I feel, like it's so adnirable that sometimes I feel like, it's so admirable that she's an attorney, and that she finished law, and she's practicing. But then I wonder how that plays out in her real life, in her professional life. Is it an advantage or do people sometimes think na baka beauty pageant questions lang yung kaya niyang sagutin?"
"Of course, that's not what I think... But, siyempre, naiisip ko yun not just for her, but all the girls.. Parang hirap magpakilala ulit, 'no?"
Gayunpaman, pinagdiinan din ni Pia na maraming maituturo tungkol sa buhay ang pagsali sa mga beauty pageants. Para sa kanya, ang mga natutunan niyang mga aral sa pagiging title holder ay maaring i-apply sa labas ng entablado.
"Iba yung mga matutunan mo. Magbabago ka talaga, mag-iibang babae ka talaga. Kasi sobrang improved ka na. Lahat ng natutunan mo sa pageant, you bring it with you in your life even after the competition."
