UP Dept. of Broadcast Comm., Pinapa-Baba Sa Pwesto Si Lala Sotto at Gusto Tanggalin Ang MTRCB!

 Department of Broadcast Communication ng University of the Philippines nanawagan na magbitiw sa pwesto ang MTRCB Chairperson na si Lala Sotto. Ito'y kasunod ng pagpapasuspinde nila sa Kapamilya noontime show na It's Showtime.

Nito lamang martes, sa isang pahayag na ibinahagi sa Facebook, nakasaad ang pagkadismaya ng departamento dahil napakalinaw umano na hindi naging patas si Lala Sotto sa pagpapasuspendi sa It's Showtime.

Ayon sa pahayag, ang pagpapasuspinde umano sa It's Showtime sa loob ng 12 days ay isang desisyon na walang karunungan at kaunawaan.

"While our stand is not about a specific program, MTRCB's recent imposition of a 12-day airing suspension on ABS-CBN’s noontime show It’s Showtime is a clear demonstration of the point about the agency's lack of wisdom and discernment. We assert that this sanction is nothing but severe.

"To say the least, the measure is regressive, and only illustrates the board’s proclivity for censorship and high handedness. In many instances, it has regarded itself as an arbiter of media morality instead of a true advocate for “matalino at responsableng panonood.” It has not reinvented the institution by encouraging ingenuity nor driven increased self-regulation in broadcast media."

Hiniling din nila ang pagbibitiw ng MTRCB chairperson na si Lala Sotto dahil pagiging unfair nito.

"We also call for the resignation of MTRCB Chair Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto, whose pronouncements on national TV evidently compromised her position and objectivity as a public official."
